Why it matters.

Interviewers don't remember adjectives, they remember stories with stakes and results. Three sharp STAR stories carry almost any interview.

What success looks like.

  • Three STAR-format stories matched to a named target role.
  • Each story deliverable in under two minutes with the result stated.
  • One failure story told honestly with what changed afterwards.

The component skills.

STAR structureSelecting relevant evidenceConcise delivery

Typical mistakes.

  • — 'We' stories that hide what you personally did.
  • — Skipping the result — the part interviewers actually score.
  • — Stories with no stakes: nothing was difficult, nothing was decided.

Practise — activities that produce artifacts.

Build the STAR story bank ~50 min

Write three stories from your real work: Situation, Task, Action, Result. One success, one conflict, one failure with a fix. Numbers in every result.

Artifact: Three STAR stories written

Trim to ninety seconds ~25 min

Say each story aloud and cut it to ninety seconds. Keep the stakes and the result; lose the scenery.

Artifact: Timed 90-second versions

Missions — do it for real.

Mentors for this capability.

Matched from real, opted-in DISHA members through the Mentor Intelligence Network — with their trust states shown as stored. Source-listed is not the same as verified.

No opted-in mentors match this capability yet — none are invented. See the Mentors view or the full directory.

How assessment works.

Every submission gets a transparent first-pass against the mission's rubric — what was looked for and what was observed. Verified state requires a real review; the system never upgrades self-reported evidence on its own.

clarity

Short sentences, concrete words, no unexplained jargon

structure

A beginning that states the idea, a middle that supports it, an end that lands it

question_handling

Answers with point-reason-example; unknowns admitted openly

composure

Notes on pressure moments and what reset you used

evidence_quality

An observable artifact: worksheet, receipt, photo reference, recording note

self_awareness

Honest signals: what you noticed, what was hard, what you'd change

Accepted evidence: mission_submission, mentor_review, observed_application, work_sample.

Stated plainly — what this doesn't do

  • — Submissions are private, self-reported evidence — they never become verified without a real review.
  • — Mentor review for capabilities arrives in a later phase of this module.
