A tested journey · skilled trades
A plumber's route through Lifelong Careers.
Everything below opens a real, working part of the platform today — and each step says plainly what it can and cannot do yet. The persona is an illustrative guide; the destinations are the product.
The work this journey serves
Skilled trades are one of the deepest mapped families here — 418 trade careers, from plumber to welder, sit alongside the office professions, not beneath them.

Step 1
See the career mapped in full
The Plumber profile shows the real work, the core skills, education routes and adjacent trades — mapped from established occupational databases, not invented.
Open the Plumber career profileStep 2
Turn experience into honest evidence
Years on the tools, jobs done, certificates held — they go into a structured profile where every item is marked for what it is: self-declared, assessed or verified.

Compare the next rung
Put Plumber beside Pipefitter & Steamfitter — or any two careers — and see the genuine overlap and the genuine gaps before committing to anything.

Find the work
Search the live jobs marketplace — every listing shows its employer, location and where it came from. Set an alert for the work you want, in the places you want it.

Earn while you learn
Skill2Earn connects capability to evidence to opportunity to income — building on the profile you already started, not a fresh questionnaire.

Get a human guide
Mentors include people who have done the work. Ask about the trade, the transition, the paperwork — a person answers, not a form.
Meet the mentorsWhat Lifelong Careers cannot do yet — said plainly
- Licences and registrations are not verified here. Formal plumbing licences, gas-safety registrations and similar regulated credentials cannot be checked by this platform in the current environment — represent them as self-declared evidence until a registry source is connected. Never treat a skills match as a licence to operate.
- Listings depend on governed sources. The jobs marketplace only shows what an approved source has confirmed, each with employer and provenance — when nothing matches yet, it says so instead of inventing a listing.
- AI here assists, it does not decide. Explanations come with their limits shown, and anything the system cannot ground in approved knowledge is refused honestly rather than made up.
The five layers of this page
Content — what this page is
This page introduces a tested route for skilled-trades visitors in plain language.
Intelligence — what Lifelong Careers works out
It draws on the mapped careers database (418 skilled-trades profiles) and the governed jobs marketplace.
Function — what you can do here
Every step card opens a working destination: career profile, evidence-based profile building, career comparison, live listings, Skill2Earn and mentors.
Data — where every fact comes from
Career mappings come from established occupational databases with stated versioning; listings come only from governed, provenance-carrying sources; no synthetic opportunity is presented as live.
Outcome — what you leave with
A trade visitor can go from curiosity to a structured profile, an honest skills comparison and real job search — knowing exactly what remains unverified.
